Life transitions will happen to all of us whether we participate in the change or not. These transitions can be positive and/or negative depending on how we embrace them. Transitions are the in-between space that holds great potential provided we are able to navigate the fear and unknowns successfully.
Going through transitions can be a time to learn healthier coping skills; letting go of old beliefs that no longer serve us; taking the time to explore our needs and wants; helping us build confidence and taking the steps we need to not only survive difficult situations, but to thrive.
Seeking counseling services is not necessarily an easy feat for some. You are being asked to reveal your most inner thoughts, secrets, desires, and wishes to someone by all accounts is a total stranger. This is why I can appreciate that therapy is a gift for the therapist not the client. I am the tool in which you use to facilitate your goals. The gift of therapy allows me to humble myself because I am not an expert on your life, you are.
It also allows me to acknowledge my errors and work to correct them. It is why I am very conscientious about establishing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship. The counseling experience can be a process of pain, hurt, discovery, and a host of other things; it goes without saying that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
In my private practice, I have created a sacred and safe space for you to do the work required to help you heal or embrace your challenges. It can serve as a catalyst for change and as a tool for promoting growth. I can honestly say there isn’t much I haven’t heard. There is no reason to feel ashamed of any issues that are causing you difficulty in your life or relationships. What’s important is that you get help to improve your situation.
What I Expect of You I expect a serious commitment from you in our work together. I expect you to be open to learning, growing, and receiving feedback. I expect you to try to communicate when you do not understand the process, or have any concerns. A good therapeutic relationship is produce when there is an emotional bond of respect, an agreement on the goals, and collaboration on the "work" or treatment.
If you would like to have more personal happiness in your life, be more authentically you, believe that your life could be something different...something better, I would like to help you get there.
